Welcome to a new year ahead for Shoalhaven Business Chamber Inc. The Annual general meeting will be held on 17th July 2007, where the Presidents and financial reports for the first year of operation 2006- 2007 for Shoalhaven Business Chamber will be presented. The election of the Executive Committee for 2007-2008 will be conducted at the AGM. All SBC members are encouraged to bring their passion and enthusiasm for the Shoalhaven business community and nominate for Executive positions for the coming year.

All nominations must be received in writing, signed by nominated person and signed by the person seconding the nomination, no later than 7 days prior to the meeting (July 10th 2007). If any positions do not receive nominations in writing 7 days prior to the meeting then nominations will be called for and seconded from the floor.

Current members of the SBC Executive Committee have notified that they will not be seeking re-election for the coming year.

Please note that all SBC members must be financial for 2007-2008 to either be elected to an Executive position or to vote for Executive members at the AGM.

Incorporated Associations Information Seminar
This free seminar, delivered by staff from the Office of Fair Trading, is designed to provide practical information about the requirements of the Associations Incorporations Act 1984 and answer some common questions about the running of an association. Free Customer Service Training Workshop
There are 18 places available in each of two free Customer Service Training Workshop, run by Lets Learn, to be held in Nowra on Tuesday 24 July, and Ulladulla on Wednesday 25 July, from 6-8pm. We will be looking at attitude, skills & knowledge, good service vs bad service, internal & external customers and the benefits of providing excellent customer service. The Department of State & Regional Development and Austrade:
is holding a "Making E-Biz Work For You" workshop in Nowra. It will be a full day event, presented by
Edwin Kuller and Derek Jardine of Austrade, as part of an Australia-wide program to update exporters on
the use of electronic selling when exporting, including tips on website development. Finally, Rewards for Australian Small Businesses!
Small businesses across Australia have the opportunity to compete on a national level with the launch of
the Australian Small Business Champion Awards. Initiated and managed by Precedent Productions (a
small privately owned Australian company) the awards are being supported by the Australian Government, the Commonwealth Bank Local Business Banking, Quicken, CPA Australia, PKF Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors and Fairfax Community Newspapers. The Champion awards are designed to support and recognise the achievements of small businesses and their contribution to the local community in each state and territory. With 29 categories, all small businesses in Australia’s retail, services and manufacturing industries are eligible to enter the awards. One small business will win the national prize and title of the Australian Small Business Champion Entrepreneur. The entrepreneur category winner will receive a $40,000 experience to the UK. Shoalhaven City Turf Club:
Fundraising Camp Quality Spring Ball 15th September 2007. Are requesting donations of items for auction at the ball. There will be a silent and live auction on the night. Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra:
The SYO is an established Orchestra which is growing steadily in confidence and skills. The SYO regularly performs at events, in concert and at festivals both within and outside the Shoalhaven. The SYO members are drawn from the Shoalhaven Region and it is the only orchestra catering to the talents of our youth. Many of the Chamber members would be familiar with the Orchestra and its extensive repertoire. The dinner concert is becoming our annual showcase performance and is an ideal opportunity to experience the talent we have in the Shoalhaven within the ambient surroundings of Worrigee House, Invitation PDF (click here).
