Shoalhaven Area Consultative Committee: Development Program – Ulladulla.

Do you have an established business that is ready to move to the next stage but are not sure quite how to do it? Would you like to explore ways to grow your business? If you can answer "yes" to either of these questions, the Springboard Business Growth Program may be for you! Our Ulladulla group will be commencing in early February and we have a couple of places left. The group will meet on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm at Mollymook. The Springboard Business Development Program ™ it is specifically designed for growth-oriented home-based and small businesses, involving eight two-hour sessions and facilitated peer-to-peer learning for groups of 12 to 15 people. It is a unique program - while there are many seminars for small business, this is the only program focusing on growth-oriented businesses and built upon facilitated adult peer-to-peer learning principles.

The Nowra group, which ran late last year, found Springboard a most valuable experience:

"The Springboard program has helped me bring together all the fragmented parts of my business to give me a much bigger and better picture of its future direction and possibilities.

"Thank you." Bill Hutchinson - The Village Forge, Berry

"Springboard has reignited my passion and reinforced that I am on the right track with my business. It has also reminded me that there are many things that I can be doing to improve my business."

Laura Eringa - Laura's Garden Café, Sanctuary Point

The cost of the program is normally $550 a head, but thanks to funding from the Australian Government's Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business Program, administered by AusIndustry, the price per head is now only $165 (inc GST);.

We can take a maximum of 15 and there are just a few places left, so please contact Lyn Eckersley on 44225402 ASAP if you are interested.

The oldest convincing evidence of life on Earth is preserved near Marble Bar. This area has become a palaeobiological Mecca for those of us interested in searching for life elsewhere in the Solar System. This is a great challenge, but it can be met. Before the end of this century, perhaps much earlier, we will know whether "we are alone". Malcolm Walter is a Professorial Fellow at Macquarie University in Sydney, Director of the Australian Centre for Astrobiology based at that university, and Director of M.R. Walter Pty Ltd. He has worked for 35 years on the geological evidence of early life on Earth, including the earliest convincing evidence of life. Since 1989 he has been funded by NASA in their "exobiology" and "astrobiology" programs, focusing on microbial life in high temperature ecosystems, and the search for life on Mars. He is a member of the Executive Council of NASA's Astrobiology Institute. During 1999 his book "The Search for Life on Mars" was published by Allen & Unwin. He has published more than 120 articles and several other books. He also works as an oil exploration consultant and a consultant to museums, and was curator of a special Centenary of Federation exhibition on space exploration (for the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, and Museum Victoria). In 2004 he was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science. He recently received a Eureka Prize for his interdisciplinary research.
